Today, leading tertiary institution Imperial School of Business and Science (ISBS) capped 289 graduates from its respective faculties in a festive atmosphere with hundreds in attendance, marking another major milestone for the institute and the labour market. Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) Commissioner General, Ms. Jeanette C. Makgolo, graced the ISBS’s graduation ceremony along with the representatives of Government, and heads of the industry.

Graduates received degrees, diplomas and certificates from a range of globally recognized programmes. Faculties include Business Management, Early Childhood Education, Entrepreneurship, Finance and Banking, Health and Safety, Logistics and Transport Management, Marketing and Public Relations Management, and Travel Tourism and Hospitality Management as well Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) amongst others.

Ms. Makgolo commended ISBS for its 19 years of quality education which has enhanced the labour market and celebrated graduates for their accomplishments.

“Nearly two decades of contributing weightily to the society and the economy of Botswana. The college has produced over a thousand graduates who have proceeded to conquer the business, management and finance worlds, to reinvigorate the industry with bustling new ideas and enthusiasm and to shake the very core and landscape of the business realm.

What makes ISBS even more inspiring is that it is a home-grown gem. Batswana came together and decided to create a formidable institution that would produce proactive and determined professionals and competitive world citizens,” she noted.

The institute’s Managing Director, Mr. Nidheesh Sharma, could not hide enthusiasm and pride for the festive moment. “It is indeed a great privilege and honour to be here amongst you all in this graceful ceremony. You have earned this achievement and you should cherish every moment of this success. You now step into the real world where you will be given opportunities to make a difference.

You have fought many battles over the past couple of years. Lockdowns, social distancing, health problems, losing someone we know, uncertainties, and overnight changes in our way of life. Therefore, believe me, you have truly earned your seat not only as a graduate, but also as an equipped and respected citizen of this nation. You overcame all the challenges and navigated this journey together,” he said.

Being the Business College’s first graduation post lockdown, the conference centre was full to capacity which only heightened the festive atmosphere and a sense of grandeur to the successful event.

Parents shared emotions openly at the graduation as their children were awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates on stage. Appreciation for the ISBS team was also shared in high spirit by graduates and their parents.

ISBS has been operating in Botswana for the past 19 years and it has produced several industry leaders that are leading different entities across the country and regionally. The institution has been a major driver in the Botswana education sector and has contributed immensely to the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) National Credit Qualification Framework (NCQF).
